“We are still in the initial stages of engaging an appropriate contractor to undertake the removal of the fountain elements and are in the early stages of planning the landscaping concepts which will occupy the space at the end of West Street.”
The landmark has proved divisive among residents - with many celebrating the news of its upcoming departure.
It was installed in the Bishopric in November 1996.
